Christmas is coming the geese are getting fat, someone’s gonna buy you a DVD for Christmas, you can depend on that!
Although the digital age has more and more of us watching our favourite programmes from a computer screen, there is still a place in everyone’s Santa sack for the good old-fashioned DVD. Here’s some of our favourites.
Friends
With the ten seasons having originally been aired between 1994 and 2004, it is not a new show, but Friends is a modern classic that everyone needs to watch. Witness Rachael, Phoebe, Monica, Ross, Joey and Chandler’s eventful love lives and their everyday trials and tribulations – there’s plenty of humour thrown in for good measure.
Only Fools and Horses
Comedy at its finest! This epic show follows two brothers from Peckham who aspire to become millionaires. After a great number of dodgy deals and narrow misses with the Law, Del and Rodney make it big when they find an antique watch that turns their dream into a reality. Promising belly laughs galore, you’d be hard pressed to find a funnier British sit com.
Stranger Things
This US science fiction-horror TV show first aired in 2016, and is currently in its second series. Set in a small US town in the 1980s, it begins with the investigation into a young boy’s disappearance from his hometown - and the supernatural events that surround it.
Gossip Girl
Get an insight into what life is like for a group of privileged teenagers on Manhattan's Upper East Side with six seasons of Gossip Girl to choose from. As you'd expect, there's plenty of scandal and salacious gossip, all of which is documented on an anonymous website known as Gossip Girl. Box sets are available.
Orange Is The New Black
There are currently five seasons available of this comedy, which follows 30-something Piper Chapman as she experiences life in a women's prison. Based on a true story, expect a focus on ethics, sexuality and plenty of raw emotion.
Breaking Bad
When chemistry teacher Walter White is given just two years to live after a lung cancer diagnosis, what does he decide to do? Manufacture the finest methamphetamine with a former student, of course. There are five seasons to enjoy.
The Walking Dead
Fans of zombie-apocalyptic horror will love The Walking Dead. Based on a comic book series, it tells the story of sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes, who awakens from a coma only to find that the world has become overrun by zombies. Can he, his family and the survivor group he ends up leading make it through?
The Sopranos
Following mobster Tony Soprano as he struggles to balance his personal life and the demands of his criminal organisation, there are six seasons of this US crime drama series to watch. This is probably one of the most highly acclaimed TV series of all time.
Forget those TV repeats and embrace the good old DVD this Christmas – and to store your ever-growing collection, why not invest in Solent Plastics’ plastic storage solutions?
