This tree-mendous achievement was recognised when we recently received the Easypack Sustainable Packaging Certificate 2019 from Pregis Limited - the leading UK brand of environmentally friendly packaging solutions.
Solent Plastics uses the Easypack technology to wrap our products in paper packaging that is 100% recycled, recyclable and biodegradable. This means no unnecessary waste packaging is being produced that will potentially harm the environment.
Eco-friendly supplier
Pregis is a well-known eco-friendly supplier, having been a finalist in the Environmental and Sustainability category of the Logistics Awards 2018. This is an annual awards ceremony recognising excellence in the logistics and supply chain sectors, celebrating the most remarkable achievements over the past 12 months.
Pregis’s entry highlighted the Easypack brand and the company's "outstanding success" in producing eco-friendly packaging solutions. The packing material is robust and highly flexible, so as well as protecting the environment, it also protects the products. It minimises in-transit breakages and uses less packaging, which reduces costs.
Based in Stevenage, the company presents the Sustainable Packaging Certificates to let businesses know exactly how much their green practices are helping the planet and to encourage all companies to adapt to support the environment.
Make a difference
In an accompanying letter to Solent Plastics, Paul van Dijk (Pregis Product Director of Paper Systems) acknowledges how our use of recycled packaging has saved 165 trees from being cut down in 2019.
Describing this as an "important effort to protect the environment", the letter notes how "every contribution, no matter how small or large, makes a difference". The number of trees saved is scientifically calculated, using official guidelines that estimate 17 trees are saved per tonne of 100% recycled paper.
The certificate of achievement is displayed to recognise Solent Plastics' efforts and also to encourage other people to adopt practices that will help the planet in terms of sustainability.
Eco-friendly ethic
The Easypack paper is pH neutral and fully-certified to ensure it's traceable to source and 100% recycled. Complying with EU laws on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals and the Restriction of Use of Hazardous Substances, it is the perfect match for Solent Plastics' responsible work ethic, as we always use 100% recycled materials.
